Boy Crazy by Hailey Abbot - Book Review

Title: Boy Crazy
Author: Hailey Abbot
Series: None.
Publication: April 28, 2009
Format: Ebook
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥

Summary:

How to Date Like a Guy:

1. Flirt constantly.

2. Keep your options open.

3. Don't get attached.

Cassie and her two best friends, Greta and Keagan, are so over boyfriends. But just because the girls are anti-boyfriend doesn't mean they're anti-boy. So they make a pact for the summer: They'll each kiss ten different guys before school starts—no commitments, no drama, just fun. Sounds easy enough. Then Cassie meets the perfect guy (nine boys too soon), and the pact starts to seem like a terrible idea. Not to mention Boy Number One turns out to be her best friend's ex. Ugh—Cassie's summer just went from carefree to complicated faster than she can say "heartbreaker."

My Review:

I really liked this book. The only reason I didn't really give this book 5 stars is because the beginning was just a little too coy for me. It seemed as though this was going to be a retarded book but I really ended up liking it much more than I thought I would after reading the first chapter.

-Cassie
I liked Cassie's character a lot. I liked how she was around Trey, she seemed like a real person around him other than what she was supposed to be acting like when she was trying to get a kiss from the random guys.

-Greta
Greta was a nice character to read, she always spoke her mind and was a very strong character of herself. I respect that she didn't want another heartbreak like her old one so she didn't want to fall in love. It was a relief reading a character like this one.

-Keagan
I was surprised that she was the one who the mentioned the most when she made out with someone other than Greta. She wasn't really a big character but they were all funny.

-Trey
Trey is really cute. The romance with them was adorable. I love how they always teased each other, it was really cute. I wish the romance went sooner than it did between them though.

Overall, this was a nice cute read. I would recommend this if you want a cute contemporary read and a few laughs. This book made me cry just a little, around the ending but it was an affordable read that didn't take long to finish.

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand - Book Review

Title: Hallowed
Author: Cynthia Hand
Series: Unearthly #2
Publication: January 17, 2012
Format: Ebook
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Summary:

For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn't prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.

My Review:

Wow, this book was breath taking. I was very emotional more through the end of it. I couldn't believe the whole change from Unearthly toward this one. So much happened it's kind of hard to get everything in. It was an amazing sequel to the Unearthly series.

-Clara
I love Clara, she could be a little annoying at times but she was an awesome main character. The love triangle breaks my heart, they are both just so wonderful it's so hard, I feel for Clara. We get to see more of her powers into this book, and more scenes with Christian than Tucker, which I was very unhappy about. But this was truly amazing.

-Tucker
I am absolutely in love with Tucker. I have a bad feeling of what's to come with them in the final book. I have a feeling I will be getting my eyes out in the next book with him Clara. He is just so wonderful it is really hard to let him go.

-Christian  I have to say I wasn't that interested in Christian at first. Every time he was there instead of Tucker I was so pissed at Clara for being with him instead of being with Tucker. Nonetheless, Christian is a great guy and Clara is very lucky to have him in her life.

I truly loved this book. The beginning was kind of hard for me to get into but once I got halfway into the book of was hard to put it down. I cannot wait to finish this series off.

Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin - Book Review

Title: Masque of the Red Death
Author: Bethany Griffin
Series: Masque of the Red Death #1
Publication: April 24, 2012
Format: Ebook
My Rating: ♥♥♥

Summary:

Everything is in ruins.

And Araby may find not just something to live for, but something to fight for—no matter what it costs her

My Review:

This was a cool book. There were some things I didn't like though, half of the things didn't keep me that interested in the book and the other half was pretty good, and there were some page turners in there.

-Araby
I understand that she was very upset that she twin died but that vow was not something comprehensible. I didn't understand really, she could have done something else but how long did she think she could keep that vow? But Araby was a nice main character to read, she was strong but that little love triangle was horrible.

-Elliot
I didn't like Elliot at first, he just seemed like someone that would just be a minor character through the book, but I ended up really liking him at the end.

-Will
I couldn't stand what happened. I loved Will so much through the book, what he did in the ending broke my heart. I couldn't believe it, family comes first I know but if he really liked her he could have done something!

Overall, I was pretty bored in the beginning, it took me awhile to get into the book. I felt like Just skipping pages that seemed boring because it did feel dragged a little through it. There were some scenes that should have been left out of the book.

Glimpse by Stacey Wallace Benefiel - Book Review

Title: Glimpse
Author: Stacey Wallace Benefiel
Series: Zellie Wells #1
Publication: May 9, 2010
Format: Ebook
My Rating: ♥♥

Summary:

Zellie Wells has a devastating crush on Avery Adams, the son of her mom’s high school sweetheart. At her sixteenth birthday party, held in the basement of her dad’s church, she finally finds the courage to talk to him. Turns out, the devastating crush is mutual.

As Avery takes her hand and leads her out onto the makeshift dance floor, Zellie is overwhelmed by her first vision of his death; shocking because not only are they both covered in his blood, but they’re old, like thirty-five, and she is pregnant.

Afraid to tell anyone about the vision, (she’d just be labeled a freaky black magic witch, right?) Zellie keeps the knowledge of Avery’s future to herself and tries to act like any other teenager in love. When they get caught on their way to a secret rendezvous by her mom and his dad, they are forbidden to see each other.

Convinced that their parents are freaking out unnecessarily, Avery and Zellie vow to be together no matter what. They continue their relationship in secret until Zellie learns that their parents are just trying to prevent her and Avery from suffering like they did. The visions are hereditary, they’re dangerous, and if they stay together the visions will come true.

Now Zellie must choose between severing all ties with Avery, like her mom did to prevent his father’s death, and finding a way to change Avery’s future.

My Review:

This was an ok book. I didn't really enjoy but it did have its moments. I was excited to start this from what I read from the blurb and it was cute at first, but then things just went a wrong way that I felt like dropping the book.

-Zellie
Zellie was an alright character. The way she fantasized about Avery is the way I fantasize about the guy I like. The way she and Avery acted around each other was hard to believe because they don't act like normal teenagers you see. I did not like the way the acted around each other in the beginning, it was just really annoying.

-Avery
I did not like Avery at all. I think Zellie could do way better than him. If that boy would've snapped at me the way he snapped at Zellie, he wouldn't be seeing me again anytime soon. I hope Benjamin will be taking her away from him.

-Grace
Ugh! This mom annoyed the hell out of me. I couldn't stand her. She was just too much; I was ready to drop the book with this character.

-Claire
Claire was overall my favorite character throughout the book. She was funny and someone that didn't annoy me as much as the other characters did.

Overall, this was an alright book. It was cute and all but not really something I would recommend. I would most likely recommend this if you have absolutely nothing else at hand and if you want a fast read.
